Christopher J. McNevin is the co-leader of his firm’s Environmental Litigation team, focusing on litigation, counseling, climate change issues, and other environmental issues. He also practices in his firm’s Climate Change & Sustainability Group.

Linda S. Adams, Keynote Speaker, was appointed to her position in 2006 by Governor

Schwarzenegger and is the first woman to serve in this role. She oversees the  environmental activities of the Air Resources Board, State Water Resources Control Board, and Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment, among others. She previously served as Director of the California Department of Water Resources, as a member of the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board, and as Chief Deputy Legislative Secretary to Governor Davis.

Margret Kim was appointed by former Governor Davis to serve as Public Adviser to the California Energy Commission. She previously served as Deputy Secretary and General Counsel to the California Resources Agency.

Nancy Sutley, Featured Presenter, serves as the Mayor’s appointment to the Board of Directors for the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. She has also served on the California State Water Resource Control Board, as Governor Gray Davis’ Energy Advisor, as Deputy Secretary for Policy and Intergovernmental Relations within Cal/EPA, as Senior Policy Advisor to EPA’s Region 9, and as Special Assistant to the Administrator at the Federal EPA.

Faculty Members

Matthew H. Ahrens focuses primarily on transactional work, environmental permitting

and regulatory compliance within his firm’s Environment, Land and Resources Department.

Daniel R. Cayan has a background in meteorology and oceanography. He works

on improving climate and extended weather forecasts in the California region.

Mark E. Elliott focuses on environmental litigation, including hazardous materials, soil,

water and air quality issues. He practices in his firm’s Climate Change and Sustainability Group.

Björn Fischer is an economist and analyst with more than 12 years’ experience in the private and nonprofit sectors. He leads U.S. activities for his company.

Arthur J. Friedman practices land use and commercial litigation. He has extensive

experience representing developers in litigation brought under CEQA.

Peter C. Fusaro has 32 years of experience in the global energy industry and he is an

international expert on oil, gas, electric power, and environmental financial markets.

Alicia Guerra practices land use, natural resources and environmental law. She has broad experience, including CEQA, NEPA, ESA and Clean Water Act matters.

Kevin T. Haroff is a leader of his firm's environmental law and litigation practice.  He has been named by Chambers USA as one of the preeminent environmental lawyers in California.  

K. Russell LaMotte represents clients regarding global and regional regulatory regimes. He served as a U.S. negotiator at several of the Kyoto Protocol implementation meetings.

Joel H. Mack is a member of his firm’s interdepartmental Energy Practice Group and the

Environment, Land & Resources Department. He also handles M&A and finance transactions.

Anne McQueen has over 18 years of experience managing projects in air quality permitting, air pollution control, CEQA air quality analysis, litigation support and related activities.

Wes Miller brings to market carbon offset projects. He previously was President of Emissions Exchange and was recognized as a leading authority on trading and pricing practices.

Robert J. Noun directs the government relations and congressional liaison activities for his laboratory. He previously managed the NREL Wind Energy Research Program.

David Pettit is the Director of the Southern California Air Quality Program for his council. He focuses on litigation and advocacy regarding air quality and in associated areas.

Janill Richards has been in her position since 1998. Her assignments have covered hazardous wastes, water quality, CEQA, NEPA, energy efficiency standards, and global warming issues.

Marc Stuart is a co-founder of his company, which was named the world’s leading Greenhouse Gas advisory firm by readers of Environmental Finance from 2001-2006.

V. John White has been a leader of the clean energy movement in California for 35 years. He was chief consultant to the California Assembly Subcommittee on Air Quality, and he leads an environmental and energy lobbying practice.

J. Craig Williams is the founding member of his firm, where he emphasizes complex business litigation in the areas of environmental and land use law.
